I have this dilemma. My mom gave me a PC she wasn’t using. I don’t know what to do with it. I want to turn into a Home Theater PC, to replace the TiVo. Not that TiVo is outrageously expensive, but it’s limited in it’s options. With the advent of Hulu and media players of all kinds, you can watch a show any time at all!
There are a couple of options when making your HTPC. You can go the Windows route with Media Center. There is the free and very user friendly XBMC which is open source. I just don’t like Windows. It’s not a very user friendly OS. So I’ll be waying the options.
I’ve always wanted to build my own home theater PC. I think it would be cool to be able to pull up any DVD or TV Show and watch it on demand. Now to figure out how big of a hard drive I need to buy.
